The Handyman Can
Most people hire a handyman when there’s work to be done around the house that’s a little “out of their league”, but the job doesn’t need to be major to justify hiring a handyman. For many of us, we either don’t know how to do something or just don’t want to do something. And that’s okay too! Here are seven things a lot of people could probably do by themselves, but we would totally hire a handyman to do for us – without ever feeling a single moment of guilt.
Hanging Artwork
Hanging artwork seems like a small task, but it can get complicated pretty quickly. First of all, art needs to be hung at a certain height (usually 57” on the center, which represents the average human eye-height). Second, if the art is heavy (like a decorative mirror), it might need to be hung over a stud and who has time to locate those? Lastly, a handyman will make sure it’s all level, which just seems like something he could definitely figure out better than us.
Assembling Furniture
Anyone who has ever tried to put together IKEA furniture is familiar with the process of going from cool, calm, and collected to total meltdown in fifteen minutes or less. Why torture yourself when you can pay someone else to struggle with the nonsensical diagrams and 500 different screws? Even better, while your handyman is putting together that cabinet, you can sit back, put your feet up, and enjoy knowing that your marriage won’t end up in divorce because of a piece of furniture with a name you can’t even pronounce.
Tile Repair
Chipped or cracked tiles are often created by impact and should be replaced. Scratched tiles should usually be replaced. Most tiles are glazed with glass, which gives them their waterproof qualities. Damage to the glaze puts the tile structure at risk. Repairing damaged tile is a cumbersome job that can be done by the average homeowner – but it is a messy, dirty job. Professionals can do your repairs in a quick and timely manner, and it will save you the pain of doing it yourself. There is no need for homeowner bravado and obsessive thrift. If you have leftover tiles from your installation hire a handyman.
Getting your entire “To-Do” list accomplished in one day
Whether it’s one of the things on this list or all of them, a handyman will likely be able to complete your entire home improvement list in a few hours, and, if the jobs are manageable, it means you’ll only have to bring in one person! It’s extremely important to define all of your projects clearly, so that the handyman can let you know if he’s capable of doing everything on your list.
