Top Bathroom Renovation Trends for 2018
For most people, the bathroom has become a coveted sanctuary. No longer is it just a place to wash off the grit. It is your personal spa, where you relieve the stress of the day and relax. So, when you are renovating your bathroom, you are not just creating a practical bathing space; you are creating a place when you can get away from it all. Here are some of our favourite bathroom design trends to jump start your creativity in 2018.
TUBS
Although the freestanding bathtub is still popular, the island bath is gaining popularity with its sophisticated appearance. It is found in a multitude of shapes: square, oval, round, asymmetrical or rectangular. To maximize the “wow” effect, install it in the centre of the room.
You may not have the space to facilitate the soaker tub of your dreams, but you don’t have to give up on baths entirely. Most manufacturers now make tubs that are smaller than the standard 32”x60” in all sorts of designs.
LEDGELESS SHOWER
The traditional shower enclosure with a curb and a door physically cuts off the view to intricate stone, tile, or decorative wall panels. An open, barrier free shower provides sight lines into the wet area which can show off your luxury shower oasis.
On a practical level, the ledgeless shower is much easier to clean than a shower enclosure. Cleaning a small corner or alcove shower enclosure can be a difficult, elbow-bruising experience. After eliminating a curb, the shower space is effectively opened up to the bathroom making it easier to reach in and clean.
HI-TECH BATHROOM
The bathroom has not escaped advances in technology. New innovations include:
- mirrors with LED lighting
- valves with motion detectors
- temperature regulators
- integration of customizable touch screens with mirrors
Whether to control the lighting, see the weather or simply impress your guests, more new options are continually becoming available.
