Prep Your Home for Summer

Summer is almost here, which means it’s time to prepare your home for warm weather and the activities that come with it. Follow these tips to help you get ready for the upcoming summer months.

Check Your Cooling System

Check that your air-conditioner is running properly especially with higher temperatures coming. If you have an A/C unit that runs daily, make sure the check your filters monthly. This helps it run more efficiently, which in turn can help reduce energy bills.

Prepare the Grill

Heat the grill for 10 minutes on high so it’s easier to scrape off built up grime and grease from the inside of the grill. You can then use warm water and soap to wash the burners, grates, drip tray, and exterior surface.

Trim Trees

Strong summer thunderstorms like the ones we had last year can cause branches to scrape against your house or break off, causing damage to your home and property. Call us to get them taken care of now – 416-925-1111.

Pest Control

Summer months bring better weather and bugs. Consider spraying the exterior of your home to create a bug barrier. Repair or replace broken or torn screen doors or windows to help keep the creepy-crawlies out as well.

Protect the Deck

Inspect the boards of your deck, railings and spindles to make sure they’re all secure. Prevent splinters by sanding down any areas that are starting to splinter and tighten any loose screws. Protect the deck against sun and moisture by applying a sealant and/or stain.

Touch-Up Paint

Touching-up your house with a fresh coat of paint protects it from water damage and mold –  it’ll also improve the curb appeal of your home and make you smile every time you walk up to your “brand new” house.
